Schools teach one of the most well known slogans, “Just Say No”. We all know that this is what we want to teach our children so they can be educated. But what about in the work place; are they using the same slogan? The answer is yes! Most employers, like Clarke Contractors, Inc., make employees take a drug test prior to hiring as well as random drug testing throughout their employment. In doing so, our customers can breathe a sigh of relief to know we are sending drug free workers into their homes.
This year add this list to your spring cleaning list and you may save on your energy bills, prevent future damage, and maybe save someone’s life.
Here is your checklist:
1. Caulk windows inside and out
2. Make sure you have positive drainage around the foundation
3. Check and fix roof for areas that water could come in
4. Check ground fault protected outlets to ensure they are working properly
5. Check for air infiltration areas outside and inside and seal them
6. Check dryer vent hose for clogging
7. Paint any exposed outside wood.
8. Check that interconnected fire alarms all work together
9. Have the furnace and ducts cleaned
10. Check fire extinguishers for charge status

Ah yes, it’s right around the corner. I know, I hear you mumbling but spring is right around the corner. Pitchers and catchers are at spring training, blue and red birds are back and before you know it, it will be too hot to go outside; and let’s not get ahead of ourselves, we have work to do. We have to get that house ready! Spring time maintenance is often overlooked but is very important. You don’t have to be handy to do the basics.
