When the Job is Done by Brian

When the job is complete, and you are able to turn a customer’s property back over to them, is probably my favorite part of this job. Last year there was a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 small children. They had a clothes dryer that caught fire and did very considerable damage. The mom and children were home at the time and the children were devastated. They had a real fear of even coming back to the house. We did everything we could to get them back in the house as soon as possible. Their fire happened in late fall, about 2 months before Christmas. The mom brought the kids a few times a week to help them get over their fear. We were all able to help when they came and talked to them and made them feel real comfortable with being there. They felt so helpless going into the holiday season; they had no home or place to have Christmas. I had suppliers and sub contractors all working hard to get this family back into their home by Christmas. I am happy to report that on Christmas Eve, we had all final inspections and certificate of occupancy. We even set them up with a live tree and some decorations. They were so happy to be back home and the children had no problems being home.

If you’re anything like me and most Americans, your mortgage company owns more of your house then you do. When you originally purchased your home, your mortgage company requires that you insure the property to protect their investment. That’s right. . . their investment.

To Claim or Not To Claim by Jerry

You’ve incurred some damage to your home, but it’s minor and you’re not certain if you should submit a claim to your carrier for coverage under your homeowner’s policy. Like an automobile policy, a homeowner’s policy should be reserved for the significant or devastating loss. You wouldn’t turn in an auto claim every time you got a scratch or dent on your car.

They are: moisture, warm air, and a food source. Mold needs these 3 things to form and grow. The #1 cause of mold growth is outdoor drainage and irrigation. Also, stucco and wood absorb water.
